BYENVENU
/byain veh new/
Byenvenu is how we say ‘Welcome’ in Louisiana Creole. Sounds familiar, right? In this E-Book, you will learn lots more which will seem familiar to you. You will not only learn how and why Creole language was born in Louisiana, but also its relationship to French and its Louisiana dialects (Cajun, Colonial and Napoleonic French).
Our goal is to provide you with useful, understandible, fun and interactive lessons and tutorials for mastering or re-learning Louisiana Creole.
Since Louisiana Creole remained an oral language for over 200 years – an alphabet and writing system only recently being established – our site validates the Louisiana Creole language and demonstrates its usage on a variety of contemporary topics and subjects. Kourí-Viní is the first real attempt on the internet to preserve and teach the Creole language of Louisiana by native speakers of Louisiana Creole.
